Jill’s Journey at BDI…

Our newest Client Services team member is also one of our most familiar faces – and that’s because Jill worked here for seven years on Brewer Direct’s Production team. So how did Jill become our new Client Services Senior Account Coordinator?

It was a long journey . . . and it all started with a test.

Jill_Mendenhall“When we, as an office, took the Strength Finders test, I found out that I had a lot of strengths that fit the Client Services team,” Jill remembers. “But at the time, I was leading Production. They needed me. And it was hard to imagine leaving them.”

Two years later, she had the opportunity to visit our client, River of Life Mission in Honolulu. And while there, sitting in Director Bob Marchant’s office, talking to him about passion and ministry, Jill realized that she not only had the strengths of a Client Services team member – but she also had the heart for the work, too.

“I remember talking to Bob and just being amazed at all the ways the Mission was helping people,” she says. “And I got to listen to men and women from their programs speak about how their lives have changed because of the Mission...it was so moving. All I wanted in that moment was to be more involved in helping the staff who help those people change their lives.”

Still, Jill left Hawaii not knowing how or when she’d ever have the opportunity to do that kind of work.

A year later, she took another step in her journey – she had the opportunity to become a full-time mom at home to her 9-year-old son, Caleb. And so, with a heavy heart, but her typically optimistic outlook, she left Brewer Direct.

“It was not an easy decision,” she says. “Leaving was so hard. But I knew it was the right time to be at home with my son.”

But her journey wasn’t ending. Not at all. Because early in 2016, Brewer Direct needed a new Client Services team member. And when Jill heard about it, she felt a familiar tugging on her heart.

“The timing was perfect,” she says. “When I got the offer, I was so happy to wholeheartedly say ‘yes’ to work I’d always wanted to do.”

Now when Jill looks back at her journey, she sees that God was directing each step so that she would be able to be part of the Client Services team at the very time when Brewer really needed her diligence, passion and excitement.
