30 Nov Quick Read: Facebook Page Reach Declined 20% in 2017
Has your nonprofit’s social profile been affected?
Thanksgiving and Christmas are the perfect opportunities to tap into the generous state of mind people are feeling! But how do you access their holiday spirit through Facebook?
Here are the top 3 takeaways from a recent article on the decline in Facebook engagement by users:
1. Page engagement has fallen more than 20% since January 2017. Facebook is always changing – and over the last two years, Facebook’s News Feed has placed a great emphasis on original content from family and friends over Page posts. That means that there’s a greater chance that fewer of your Mission posts are being seen on a regular basis by your Facebook followers.
2. Don’t worry about over-posting. It follows that posting MORE (not less) is important to reach your Facebook followers these days. A recent article from socialmediatoday.com explains, “Facebook notes that some Pages post up to 80 times per day, which seems excessive, but when you consider that less than 5% of your audience will see your content in their Newsfeed, the chances of you spamming fans by over-posting or re-posting are far more limited than they used to be.”
3. Video posts still rule! If you’re not engaging with your Facebook followers, posting videos is where you should be putting your efforts. According to the analysis of 68 million posts in June 2017, “Videos now gain twice the level of engagement of other post formats on average.”
